Blue Eyed Sun at The Henries Awards

There’s been excitement in the world of greeting cards here in the UK with the unveiling of the 2012 finalists for The Henries Awards. Named after Sir Henry Cole (who introduced the first commercially produced Christmas card) the awards are an annual event ran by Progressive Greetings magazine celebrating the very best of British greeting card design. The competition saw over 14,000 entries, in eighteen categories. Entries were judged by a panel, which included buyers from top retailers including: John Lewis, Paperchase and Scribbler to name just a few. As the news began to filter out of the chosen finalists, I was very happy to see a lot of my favourite greeting card designers had made the cut. To celebrate their achievement today’s post, and a few more over the next few days will be a showcase of the Finalists and their award-nominated designs.

First up is Blue Eyed Sun, who’s gorgeous new ‘Vintage’ collection is nominated in two categories: ‘Best Handmade or Hand-Finished Range’ and ‘Best Spring Seasons Range’. The greeting cards are based on original stitched artworks, that are printed, embossed and hand-finished with jewels.
