Take a Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes of Polar

Say hello to …

Hannah, who along with her partner Keith runs Polar

Polar Bag of Bones Tote Bag

Tell us a little about yourself and your company?

Keith is a graphic designer and I’m a knitwear designer, both living and working in Bath, England. We currently run Polar part time as well as working on other projects. Polar is essentially a celebration of collaboration. Initially starting as a chance to produce non commercial (and sometimes a little bit silly) work, Polar has evolved. From stickers to scarves, pencils to posters we sell it all. As long as it’s red and white, anything goes.

Describe your typical working day …

On a day when I’m in the studio I get p nice and early to have breakfast. I then walk with Keith to his work then back to the studio. In the studio I tend to reply to emails, contact stockists and blogs. Then package up orders, update our blog and shops plus work on new designs and the production of current stock. In the afternoon I normally take a stroll to the post office to post and orders we’ve had that day.

What is the best thing about your job?

All the lovely people I get to talk to and the variety of things we get up to.

Do you use any specialist techniques?

All the knitwear is produced by myself using a flat bed knitting machine and British spun yarn. Our printed items are produced locally to Bath by print specialist and then packaged up by us in our studio.

Your products …

What is your personal favourite product in your collection?

I love the ‘Party In A Box’ It’s packed full of items to make you smile and promises to jazz up any event.

What are the most popular products in your range?

We’ve had a lot of love recently for our ‘Bag of Bones’ Tote  (shown at the top of the blog) and the ‘Graphic Animal Card’ set. I think the cards are perfect for all occasions and the bag will make a brill beach bag when the sun eventually appears!
