Add a Little Retro Glamour to Your Age Cards.
Today’s blog post is a look at the latest greetings cards from Pennychoo. The new range is all about special ages but retains all of the retro design and vintage goodness we’ve come to expect from designer Sue Lee. Covering special birthday ages from 16 -90 years, the range has an impressive 16 designs. It’s not that many years ago that it was tricky to find a card past age 70 so it’s great to see the range catering to older ages. Alongside the regular age cards, Sue has also designed a number of options for mid-decade birthdays. Ages 35, 45, 55, 65, 75 and 85 all have a dedicated design, a great addition as these birthdays are celebrated more and more.
In creating this new range of age cards Sue scoured the vintage world for the best vintage typography. Designs are inspired by retro comics such as The Beano and all across the vintage world from circus posters and race cars to ads and billboards. Even old-style arcade games can be seen playing an influence in the age 45 card. I love the hard work that has gone into designing this range. Hours sifting through vintage ephemera has resulted in a range of age cards with a genuine retro feel.
The card range has been designed for both men and women. A gender-neutral look, combined with a stylish colour palette ensures that the greeting cards are neither girly or blokey. I love the detail that has been put into the patterns and finish of the cards. The slightly distressed look that has been expertly applied to each card links the range beautifully and adds a an extra special touch of days gone by. See what you think …
