Yes, Card & Gift Network is Five Today. Woo Hoo!
Well another year has gone by and today Card & Gift Network is five years old. I’m not really sure where the time has gone exactly!
To date there has been 1,015 blog features, starring hundreds of designers, publishers and retailers. Not to mention showcasing thousands of greetings cards and gifts.
I wanted to take a quick little break from the normal posts now that Card & Gift Network is five; to see where we are and preview what comes next. A little birthday reflection you might say.
But before we get to that let me just say a few words about the lovely images that decorate the post. These adorable age 5 greetings cards are designed by Julia Chester, Chief Designer at Peel and Sardine. I used to work at Peel and Sardine so I know first-hand that they make very high quality, beautifully illustrated greetings cards and designer gifts. You can see more of what they do on the Peel and Sardine website.
Where we are now Card & Gift Network is five?
At the start of the year I had intended to add a trade directory to the website. Complimenting the product features, the directory aimed to give a space for businesses in the industry to share what they do; as well as being able to find suppliers and collaborators. As it’s probably obvious to see the Directory is still labelled ‘coming soon’. A fact that probably annoys me a lot more than it bothers you.
The truth is I still aim to add the directory but not until it’s right. Behind the scenes I am now developing the 3rd version of the directory. I know what you’re thinking … version 3?! Where was 1 and 2? Well, the simple fact is that when it came to testing, the software just didn’t work well enough. So it was back to the drawing board and try again. I’m happy to say that so far version 3 is looking quite promising. I will however be keeping my fingers-crossed for most of the Christmas holidays as I finish off the testing. At the moment I am hoping to launch in the New Year.
Alongside the directory there have been a few other changes. The move from blog to network was completed, the design has been tweaked and we’ve got a lovely new mailing list for the community. I’ve also begun the mission of adding online marketing tips and online selling tips to the features list. Changes that will continue to develop over the next year.
What’s next now Card & Gift Network is five?
So that was 2014, what’s next now Card & Gift Network is five?
Well, I am hoping that 2015 will bring a little innovation and collaboration. A dedicated server, some expert articles, partner offers for the community and perhaps even our own award for brilliant cards and gifts. I think there’s lots of possibilities but if you have any suggestions I’d LOVE to hear them too. You can leave me a comment below or get in touch direct.
At the moment plans are being kept for tea breaks and it’s all about Christmas for the rest of the month. (Marketing Tips will return after the holidays).
Thank you for your support and have a lovely December.
