A Closer Look at the ARTHOUSE Meath Project.
For today’s blog post I wanted to share a few of the unique gift and homeware products created by artists at ARTHOUSE Meath; a social enterprise project that showcases the talents and skills of adults living with severe epilepsy, learning and physical difficulties.
Founded by Becky Sheraidah, the project uses professional art instructors to offer help and guidance to ARTHOUSE Meath artists. The result is unique, personal designs and works of art made for exhibition and sale.
The majority of the artists are residents of the Meath Epilepsy Trust residential home, while other artists (garnered from the local community) also live with varying disabilities and conditions. Whilst receiving 24 hour care within a safe environment ARTHOUSE Meath artists are offered the opportunity to feel a sense of purpose, belonging and pride in their work.
Appreciating the Artists
The ARTHOUSE Meath project is careful to place value on every contribution. Whilst dealing with their conditions many of the artists have felt excluded or undervalued in the past. Organisers have made it paramount that each person is valued and respected. Seeing their work sold locally, nationally and online helps each artist feel included, while also challenging prejudices. 100% of sales revenue goes back into the business for ongoing development in the hope of creating more opportunity for more people in the future.
The ARTHOUSE Meath project is a vibrant and exciting business; a great addition to the card and gift community. Today’s gallery of gifts, stationery and wrap are a few of my favourites from the current collection.
