top drawer autumn 2015

Why Top Drawer Autumn 2015 is a Show Not to Miss.

Following on from last week’s look at why to visit Autumn Fair and that show’s must see exhibitors it’s now time to turn our attention to the next great show, Top Drawer Autumn 2015.

Top Drawer is London’s largest design-led card & gift trade show. Exhibiting thousands of  carefully selected British and international suppliers across Top Drawer, Home & CRAFT sectors. In today’s post I want to share a quick look at reasons to visit the show, which runs from the 13th-15th September at London’s Olympia. Tomorrow I will follow this up with a look at some must-see exhibitors. So, without further ado, here’s why this design-focused show is one not to miss.

1. New Home, New Look.

Top Drawer, together with its sister shows Home & CRAFT has a new (and permanent home) at London’s newly refurbished Olympia venue. Light-filled, spacious and spread across 4 halls and 2 levels the three shows aim to deliver over 1,000 leading UK-based and international brands. A welcome difference to the bigger shows where you won’t see daylight for hours on end.

2. Design Focus.

Taking place twice per year (in January and September) Top Drawer is London’s largest design-led gift trade event and that “design-led” tag is very important. At this show you’ll notice a strong emphasis on cutting-edge design and the latest trends. All of the exhibitors are hand-picked for unique design, character and appeal that fits the “design-led” ethos of the show.

3. The Academy Masterclasses

The Academy offers expertly designed masterclasses to help you get the best from your business. Covering a wide variety of topics including: social media strategies, visual merchandising styling tips, the latest website designs and running a successful pop-up shop. There’s a total of 15 sessions across the 3 day show, featuring speakers such as Wayne Hemingway MBE, Co-founder of Red or Dead, Alex O’Byrne, Co-Founder of We Make Websites and international speaker & author Warren Knight. Each offering advice and experience to grow your business.

4. New & Spotted.

In total, Top Drawer will welcome over 1000 exhibitors in 7 sectors: gift, stationery & greetings, fashion accessories, children’s, wellbeing, Home & CRAFT.  Over 200 of these exhibitors however are brand new and will be showing for the first time. Great for retailers who want to refresh their offering with designers and makers taking their first steps into the industry.

Alongside the new exhibitors dotted around the show, organisers have also carved out a special section for fresh British design. ‘Spotted’ is a group of 10 designers: Rosa & Clara, Azzy London, Peas in a Pod, Terri Leahy, Renn Designs, Katey & Josephine, Filthy Velvet, Jo Gordon Ltd, Marcus Walters & The City Works, hand-picked by writer and author, Charlotte AbrahamsNow established as one of Top Drawer’s main attractions, the new design showcase Spotted has helped over 80 pledging business break into the all-important trade fair market. The autumn pick will also see some of the best of 2014’s designers return under the Spotted+ banner.

5. Eco Trail

TV presenter and environmental champion Oliver Heath will be lending his support and expertise to the show with the ‘Eco Trail’. Nominating a collection of exhibitors that hold the moral and ethical beliefs, to deliver products of ethical value.

If you’re interested in doing your bit for the environment, follow the Eco Trail to meet the exhibitors who are making, importing and lovingly creating collections with people and the planet in mind.

6. Show Offers.

Top Drawer Autumn 2015 is also a place to grab a bargain. Over 150 exhibitors have declared that they will be showcasing their wares with special show offers. This means anything from free delivery to discounts; sometimes there will even be some lovely freebies.

& even if there is no official promotion ongoing some exhibitors are open to deals so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to test new products and get a better deal for placing an order at the show. If you’re there to buy give yourself plenty of time to mull over what you’ve seen and consider what you want to take home.

7. Festive Fun.

The final reason to visit Top Drawer Autumn 2015 that I want to highlight is festive. With the festive marketing season just a few weeks away there’s still some time to add the latest product launches to your Christmas display. Over 150 exhibitors will be showing lines perfect for Christmas. Keep your eyes peeled for these fresh additions and how they might wow your customers shopping in November and December.
