FESTIVE FRIDAY 2015 BANNER 900

Are You Ready for Festive Friday 2015?

While you may be forgiven for thinking that this coming Friday, 27th November, is simply the retail world’s ‘Black Friday’ it also belongs to another event. An event all together a lot nicer, a lot friendlier in its intentions and one less likely to end with a bun fight over a flat screen TV. The event is Festive Friday 2015.

Created by the UK’s Greeting Card Association (GCA), Festive Friday 2015 is a unique day for everyone in the card industry (and all lovers of cards) to send their personal Christmas cards. Helping to support designers, makers and publishers in the industry and to create a flurry of festive cards arriving in the first week of December. Post which will help get everyone in a festive, card-sending mood.

As the GCA comments:

“Christmas time is a special time of love and caring, family and community, the time when we reach out to spread good will and happiness – and it’s when the Christmas cards start arriving that we begin to feel that lovely festive feeling. What better way to get this all started nice and early than by joining in with Festive Friday 2015!”

Take Part in Festive Friday 2015.

To support the event the GCA has created a Festive Friday Toolkit. Everything you need to get inspired and organise your own Christmas card-sending event. Ideas include:

  • Dedicating an hour on Friday to writing Christmas cards. Get your friends, family or work buddies together, crack open the mince pies and get writing.
  • Provide Christmas cards for your staff to send to their families.
  • Increasing your Christmas card list to send more greetings this Christmas.
  • Giving packs of cards (& a Festive Friday poster) to a good cause, such as local charity shops, hospitals, old people’s homes, or schools.
  • Spreading the word about Festive Friday everywhere you can.

Festive Friday on Twitter.

Chief among the events for Festive Friday is sharing the fun on Twitter. The GCA are asking all card makers and card fans to help them create a massive wave of publicity for the day. So why don’t you take part in the GCA’s Festive Friday Twitter Giveaway.

Simply give away a pack of Christmas cards (or two if you prefer) to your lucky winner.

Post a photo of your giveaway prize at 9am on Festive Friday using the words:

It’s #FestiveFriday! RT & follow by 9pm today for a chance to #win in our #giveaway. Get sending your Christmas cards!

Tweet your winner after 9pm and, if the winner has ‘followed’ you, send a private message congratulating them and get their address details for the prize. If the recipient then posts a photo of their prize a few days later, this can also be retweeted.

Download the Kit.

The full details of the day and loads more ideas can be found in the Festive Friday 2015 toolkit, which you can download from the Greeting Card Association website.

I hope that you all take part and have fun on the day. However you choose to celebrate remember to take some photos, spread the word and tag @GCAUK and @cardgiftnetwork in, so we can help spread the word even further.

Don’t forget Festive Friday 27th November 2015.
