Pulse Unveils Inspiring Design Trends for 2016’s Autumn/Winter Season

Following on from yesterday’s look at the new design talent being unveiled at this year’s Pulse, today we’re taking a look at 4 new trends for 2016 that the Pulse team are predicting will be a huge hit for the Autumn / Winter 2016 season.

Pulse is a design influenced trade show for inspiring giftware and modern living products, so it’s only natural that they keep one eye open for trends that may have a big impact on the industry.

Their ‘trends for 2016’ predictions have been compiled with the help of the most forward thinking trend and retail experts including Fashion Trend Consultant, Claire Foster and Trend Agency, Unique Style Platform (USP).

Today’s featured trends will be showcased at the show alongside 5 additional lifestyle trends, which will features in a series of shop window displays.

1. The Maximalist Trend

Maximalist sees style crossing boundaries, both geographical and social. Intriguing cultures come to the fore with an eclectic take on the globe and all it has to offer. Inspired by globetrotting collections and ‘more is more’ styling, the maximalist trend is a vivid mix of creativity and craft.

Coastal Simplicity

Simplicity is key in terms of colour, print and finish in the Coastal Simplicity trend. Materials have a rustic finish, such as bleached natural wood, worn enamel and crackled salt glazes on ceramics. Textiles are practical calico, coarse natural weaves and waterproof wax fabrics. Bleached out greys, bright white and sand form the basis of a fresh and clean palette. Verdant green, gentle mint and earthy brown echo coastal plants, while a mix of cornflower, sky blue and navy provide a hint of nautical chic transporting us to an idyllic life by the sea.
