Harrogate Home & Gift 2016 Arrives This Weekend.

This Sunday sees the start of Harrogate Home & Gift 2016. As one of the industry’s favourite trade shows, Harrogate combines a unique mix of top class exhibitors, exciting new products and a fabulous atmosphere.

With 55 years of shows under its belt, Home & Gift is one of the UK’s oldest trade fairs and year after year proves to be an enjoyable time for both buyers and brands; four days of Pimms, Barbecues and top card & gift goodies.

So far this week we’ve looked at the new products, the new designers to Home & Gift 2016 and the top speakers due to the picturesque town of Harrogate this weekend. Each of these should be enough to convince anyone to visit but just in case you’re still deciding here’s a run down of 6 top reasons to visit Harrogate Home & Gift 2016.

1. The Town

Every July the Spa town of Harrogate plays host to Home & Gift. While many of the trade shows are based in London Home & Gift is one of the few shows outside the capital, which gives it a unique atmosphere.

The locals are wonderfully welcoming to all the card & gift folk who descend for the jam-packed 4 day event. Similarly the town itself provides a gorgeous backdrop for all the show has to offer; with its beautiful stone buildings and luscious gardens it’s hard not to enjoy a trip to Home & Gift.

2. New Exhibitors & Spotlight

Home & Gift 2016 is all about “New, Bigger, Better” and it’s fair to say they’re definitely delivering in terms of new exhibitors. Amongst 850+ brands showing at Home & Gift more than 200 are new for 2016.

Organisers have also arranged a chosen selection of these new exhibitors in special show zones. ‘Design Point Debut’ in Hall G is hosting never-seen-before design-led brands including: Alice Caroline (Stand G64), Lorna Syson Textiles (G60), Keep This Cracker (G127), RB Ceramics (G162), Su Owen Design (G190) and littleCONCEPTS (G48).

Located next to Design Point Debut you will also find ‘Spotlight’ showcasing fresh and original design talent from across the UK. Exhibitors in the Spotlight sector include: Dovecote (G61), MadPax (G71), Terrarium Design (G111), Little Weaver Arts (G112), Clough & Co (G134) and Lola Design (G71a).

3. New Products

Harrogate Home & Gift 2016 is split into 4 dedicated sectors: Giftware; Interiors & Accessories; Jewellery & Fashion; Greetings & Stationery. For each of these new sectors visitors will find a heap of new and exciting design-led products, which are launching at the show.

To date almost 400 of the show’s exhibitors have declared they will be showcasing new products this weekend. Look out for the new glittery greeting cards of Always Sparkle (DP5-5a); cute new ‘Pretty Wild’ Keepsake Tins from Peel and Sardine (DP1-111), metallic cards and gifts by Coulson Macleod (DP2-25) and gorgeous handmade cards from Blue Eyed Sun (DP5-58) to name just a few.

4. Product Trails

With 850+ exhibitors scattered across Harrogate town centre it’s going to be a busy 4 days for visitors. Add to this all the lovely products on show and it could be very easy to miss some amazing stands. Thankfully the show organisers are making things a little easier with 4 dedicated ‘Product Trails’.

The Product Trails help ease navigation around the show, highlighting exhibitors that have a particular offer worth seeing. This year’s product trails include:

  • New – showcasing new, trend-setting products launching at Harrogate Home & Gift 2016.
  • Christmas – cards, gifts and decorations; everything you need for the festive season.
  • Eco – the ‘greenest’ products selected by TV Presenter and Eco Champion Oliver Heath.
  • Best of British – British made products curated by David Nicholls, Features Director at House & Garden.

5. The Great Northern Retail Forum

Alongside the exhibitors and the products Home & Gift 2016 also offers visitors (and exhibitors) a chance to brush up on their marketing & commerce skills. The Great Northern Retail Forum is a jam-packed programme of seminars, workshops and Q&A’s with top experts from across the industry.

If you’re keen to learn the latest skills to boost your business then the educational elements of the show should not be overlooked. Take a look at my Top 12 Speakers to see at Harrogate Home & Gift 2016 for more information on must-see seminars.

6. Great Atmosphere

Last but not least, no “reasons to love” feature on Harrogate Home & Gift 2016 would be complete without mentioning the shows unique atmosphere. Like all shows it’s geared up to offer plenty of networking opportunities for retailers, colleagues and key suppliers, there is however something a little bit extra about the Harrogate show.

When I worked for a card & gift publisher and was on the exhibiting side of things Harrogate was always our favourite trade show, the show everyone was happy to work. It might be the sunshine, the laid back Northern setting, the music, the Pimms, the food … it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that makes Harrogate stand out, but the entire combination results in a trade show with a great atmosphere.
