Gift of the Year 2017 Brings More Chances to Win

Gift of the Year 2017 is the UK’s largest and most prestigious award scheme in the gift and home industry. Organised by The Giftware Association (GA), the awards aim to find the most 
 innovative and exciting products that are new-to-market in 2016/17.

Raising the profile of giftware suppliers, recognition at the awards gives gift businesses a platform to reach the industry and increase sales and revenue.

Gift of the Year 2017 enjoyed a successful launch at Harrogate Home & Gift, where scores of companies entered the competition. The Gift of the Year team then moved onto Autumn Fair; working closely with headline sponsors and show organiser i2i Events Group to raise awareness with exhibitors ahead of the Gift of the Year 2017 awards ceremony, which will be held at next year’s Spring Fair.

 

6 New Categories for Gift of the Year 2017

For Gift of the Year 2017, award organisers have introduced six new categories. The addition of Food & Drink, Fairtrade, Craft & Handmade, Fine Jewellery, Nursery and Pet reflects changes in the industry and feedback from designers and makers. The Giftware Association’s team have been hard at work talking to suppliers at trade shows and looking for new areas that the awards can help showcase.

The Gift Association’s Chief Executive Sarah Ward said of this recent development:

“We are exploring every possible opportunity to grow the competition while maintaining its quality and integrity. We must nurture Gift of the Year: it is The Giftware Association’s jewel in the crown. It shows the gift and home industry at its best and provides suppliers with the opportunity to raise their profile and increase revenue and sales.”

The Giftware Association has also partnered with the National Association of Jewellers, which has helped to increase awareness of Gift of the Year among its members; giving them the chance to  to enter numerous jewellery-themed categories.

The new categories for Gift of the Year 2017 join existing categories which include: Home Accessories; Fashion Jewellery & Accessories; Kitchen & Dining; Home Fragrance; Body, Bath & Spa; Garden & Outdoor Living; Kids & Teens; Seasonal; Occasions; Commemorative & Collectable; Hot Novelty; Branded & Character; Made in UK; Cards, Wrap & Stationery; Under £10; Eco Friendly.

 

Winning Gift of the Year 2017

The winners of Gift of the Year 2017 will be chosen by a panel of judges, including industry experts and retailers from both independents and national department stores.

In a series of rounds the entries are whittled down from a mass of online entries, to one winner and two highly commended products per category. The judges also choose one overall ‘Judge’s Choice’ winner. The full benefits for the chosen winners includes:

  • FREE exhibition stand for the overall Judges’ Choice winner at Autumn Fair 2017.
  • Endorsement of your product with an acclaimed Gift of the Year status.
  • Display of your winning products in the Gift of the Year showcase at Spring 
Fair and Autumn Fair 2017 at the NEC, Birmingham,as well as Home & Gift 2017 in Harrogate.

Entering Gift of the Year 2017

Giftware Association and British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) members pay £35 for a single product entry and £20 each for subsequent entries, while non-members pay £60 for their first entry and £40 for each product thereafter. However, all suppliers can enjoy a 20% early bird discount for all entries that are submitted and paid for before 30th September 2016.
