Look Out For These Exciting New International Designers

The Autumn / Winter edition of trade show Top Drawer revealed lots of amazing products in the world of Home, Gift, Fashion and Craft. The show also played host to a number of new international designers that were bringing their stylish products to the UK for the first time.

Top Drawer’s UK Debut trail showcased 30 exhibitors that were taking part in their very first trade show. From greeting cards and gifts to fashion and homewares, the new international designers brought a host of design-led, innovative products.

In today’s post were taking a look at my top 12 picks, designers from across the globe that you should definitely keep on your radar in the future.

Burel Factory

The Burel Factory was created with the purpose of giving a new life to Portuguese traditions and develop the rural industries of the mountain of Serra da Estrela in Portugal. Owners, Isabel and João, use a traditional wool fabric, Burel, in a variety of colours and textures applied to accessories and homewares. Alongside their own range, Burel Factory also works with Portuguese designers, to create surprising pieces full of colour and contemporary style.

Chrysa Koukoura

Greek srtist Chrysa Koukoura works in fine-line pen on paper, creating detailed black and white drawings that pull the viewer in for a closer look. The current collection includes a range of hand screen-printed prints, alongside a set of greeting cards adorned with her artwork.

Eduards Accessories

Sweden’s Eduards Accessories is all about bags, bracelets and purses. The work of architect and designer Cecilia Eduards, the range is inspired by Swedish nature and traditional Nordic craft and building techniques. Each of the finished pieces is made out of fine vegetable tanned leather, to create long-lasting items that will last for years.

Designers Erstwhile publish a range of exclusively licensed reproductions of mid-century wall maps, and rare vintage botanical and zoological charts; aiming to preserve the beauty of imperfection and decay that comes with age and use. Their artworks are lovingly restored to their original beauty, or preserved in their found state to retain vintage character.

French brand GAB&LOU is a young company who aim to make children and their family happy with original, personal presents. The adventure started with La Chouette Famille, a group of handmade owls that represent a family. Their current range has branched out to incorporate more colours and characters across a variety of homewares.

Swedish artist and designer Nadja Wedin creates products such as fabrics, cushion covers, trays, trivets, cutting boards and coasters. Made in Sweden the collection focuses on quality. Each product is decorated with a vivid, artistic world, which sees all of nature in a truly unique style.

Estonia’s Nufnuf is a brand that offers smart and stylish products for dogs. The Nufnuf range aims to improve the lives of dogs and dog lovers by making cosy, safe products. In Autumn 2016 they will launch a new product line, Nufnuf Natural, for dogs allergic to man made materials, and for dogs owners who want a healthy lifestyle.

Swedish ceramics brand Sthål AB founders Susanna Theander and Helena Åkesson-Liedberg are two international designers and stylists with a passion for food and good company.
