Thinking of You Week 2016 is Fast Approaching

Now in its third year, Thinking of You Week 2016 arrives next week; running from the 26th September to 2nd October. Organised by the Greeting Card Association (GCA), the event aims to inspire people to create a wave of love, caring and happiness by sending greeting cards to different people during the week.

Introduced in 2014, Thinking of You Week, Thinking of You week is a great opportunity to showcase the greetings card industry and the power of cards. As we discovered for Thinking of You Week 2015, science has shown that receiving a handwritten card is far more personal than receiving texts, emails or social media messages. A perfect offline way to balance all the time we spend online, sending cards generates happy feelings, and ultimately boosts wellbeing.

Greeting cards displayed at home or work act to remind us of the relationships in our life. Kept as a memento, they provide a lasting reminder of special people. With Thinking of You Week 2016 we have an annual reminder of this, a chance to take a few minutes from our day to connect or reconnect with the people who mean the most to us.


Royal Mail Supports Thinking of You Week 2016

For Thinking of You Week 2016 Royal Mail will be supporting the event with a special postmark. With the sentiment “It’s Thinking of You Week! Send a card to raise a smile”, the special postmark will be printed on all stamped mail between Monday and Saturday next week.




Stephen Agar, head of social mail for Royal Mail commented:

“There is nothing better than receiving a card in the post and opening it up to find out who sent it. Cards spread happiness and joy in a way that can never be matched by emails and texts. We are really pleased to be marking the campaign with a special postmark.”

Over 6 million items are sent with postage stamps every day, which means the Thinking of You Week 2016 message will be seen by around 36 million people during the week.

Get Involved in Thinking of You Week 2016

The GCA are encouraging everyone to get involved in the week by writing and sending cards, whether handcrafted or bought. They also want us all to help promote the idea of sending cards as the best way to show how much we care about others; an idea I am happy to help spread right here!

There will be Thinking of You Week 2016 events up and down the country, in schools, communities and local shops. Whether you to choose to host a card making workshop or organise a card writing event in your local area, there are lots of ways you can get involved and help this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever.
