Spotted Unveils New Designers of Stationery & Greetings Cards
The weekend ahead sees the arrival of the first trade show of the new year, Top Drawer 2017. With it comes a whole heap of exciting new products and new designers.
For Top Drawer and its audience of innovative retailers new designers are the must-see element of the show. This makes the Spotted sector a hot favourite with every visitor. Curated by Charlotte Abrahams, Spotted features 40 budding brands showing innovative, market ready designs.
Charlotte said of this year’s sector:
‘Spotted just goes from strength to strength and this edition promises to be the most exciting yet. There’s something for every Top Drawer sector from chic, modernist homewares and letterpress stationery to delicate filigree jewellery, handmade candles and fabulous floral shirts. There is so much creative talent in this country and I am delighted to be working with Clarion Events to bring the best of that talent to Top Drawer.’

Today’s post is a look at 6 exciting new designers who will be exhibiting unique ranges of greeting cards and paper goods. From the kid-friendly designs of Coconut Tin to the stunning sea creatures illustrated by Nicola Watters there’s something for everyone.
Coconut Tin – Stand SP77
The Coconut Tin Card Company is the creation of London based, award-winning Illustrator Finn Dean. With a background in illustrating book covers, Finn is now branching out into the world of original greetings cards and prints. At Top Drawer 2017 his Spotted showcase will unveil a brand new range of greeting cards for children. Today’s sneak peek is from the fabulous ‘The Adventures of Rusty’ range. A series of greetings cards about a little boy called Rusty J. Littlebottom. Finding himself in a variety of adventures, Rusty takes on a new role for every escapade; private detective, explorer, deep sea diver or pirate, Rusty does it all.

Laura Knight Studio – Stand SP32
Laura Knight Studio are pattern makers and designers of stationery and art prints. Drawing inspiration from the graphic contrasts found in pattern, colour and raw materials. Inspired by post war British architecture in her hometown of Sheffield, Laura will be showcasing a range of paper goods. There will also be new homewares, inspired by the lost playgrounds of social housing blocks. Look out for these stunning graphic greeting cards, perfect for the modern card giver.

Katie Housley – Stand SP43
Katie Housley is a luxury stationery company based in Hove, England. Launched in 2013 following the birth of her first child, designer Katie focuses specialises in creating quality paper goods with a modern twist. Already stocked in a number of retail outlets, the company is ready to grow and is being exhibited direct to the trade for the first time at Top Drawer. Images shown today are from the luxurious and elegant Gold Leaf collection, which has a variety of beautiful greeting cards, perfect for a number of occasions and sentiments.

Natalie Lea Owen – Stand SP38b
Natalie Lea Owen is an illustrator and surface pattern designer. She creates quirky, patterned stationery and homewares, including greetings cards, notebooks, tea towels and cushions. Her passion for design and bright, modern colours can be seen throughout her product range, which features a mix of bold graphic prints and detailed illustrations. Look our for Natalie’s new Floral Art Prints, which will be a stand out range at Top Drawer 2017.

Hunter Paper Co – Stand SP75
Hunter Paper Co. is a letterpress stationery brand based in Northern Ireland. With a slight obsession for the beautiful tactility of letterpress printing and a modern, minimal design aesthetic, designer Emma Jackson established the brand after completing a degree in illustration. Three years later the company is stocking shops across the UK & Ireland and is now ready to tackle Top Drawer 2017. Today’s sneak peek at the range includes the brilliant Hello Baby and New Home Letterpress Cards.

Nicola Watters Design – Stand SP1
Nicola’s childhood was spent on the Fylde Coast in Lancashire where her love of the English countryside and everything to do with the sea originates. Having gained her Honours degree in Illustration at Manchester University she moved south for a career in publishing, design and textiles. Today Nicola works as an artist; dividing her time between rural Hertfordshire and the Fylde and Devon coasts. The Sea Crab and Blue Lobster prints shown today are just a few of the beautifully illustrated designs you will find on her Top Drawer stand.
