The greetings card and giftware industries are constantly evolving; giving business owners a lot to learn to stay at the forefront of those changes. Luckily for the savvy business owners, trade shows (such as the upcoming Autumn Fair) are addressing these educational needs once again in their programme of live events.

When the show kicks off in a few weeks (3rd – 6th September) exhibitors and visitors will have a chance to see 4 days worth of seminars, alongside ‘Meet the Expert’ Clinics and much more. All of these business boosting live events are designed to give companies in our industry an introduction, or tips to an important business topic.

In today’s post I wanted to showcase 11 of the talks that I think will prove most interesting and useful to designers, makers and retailers; whether you’re online, offline or both.

 

Sunday 3rd September

Starting the show, Sunday 3rd September has 3 interesting talks to look out for from The Wrapped Agency, Jeremy Corner of Blue Eyed Sun, and The Giftware Association.

Monday 4th September

Continuing on Monday, the seminars give us our first trend briefing of the show from trend experts WGSN. There will also be the first of a three part Web Check-Up series from Inside Retail Editor, Sophy Searight and Simon Pryce, Director of Skylight Media.

I was lucky enough to meet Sophy when I spoke at Spring Fair in the past, and I’ve seen many wonderful websites for businesses in our industry built by Skylight Media, so I know this pair really know their stuff!

There will also be a talk from Google Digital Garage’s Abbey Oladapo, on the subject of Google Analytics. I’ve recently done a tonne of training and become certified in Google Analytics, so I’m very aware of just how important this is for any business wanting to succeed online.

Wednesday 6th September

For the final day the seminar schedule is fairly light, allowing visitors to spend more time checking out the exhibitors. There is however the third and final part of the Web Check-Up series. For this last part, the pair will look towards Google AdWords. Online Ads are a great way to bring traffic to a website, but you need to know what you’re doing before you start spending money, so I think this last seminar pick is definitely a must see.
