Small Business Saturday 2017 Hits the UK on December 1st
Following swiftly on the heals of Festive Friday 2017 this Saturday sees the UK indie shopping scene celebrating Small Business Saturday 2017.
Created by American Express to help support the independent shopping scene, Small Business Saturday is for small UK businesses to get the help, support and custom they need to survive and thrive.
Who is Small Business Saturday 2017 For?
The Small Business Saturday 2017 team have stated on their campaign site:
“We want all kinds of small businesses to get involved, so know that whether you are a family business, local shop, online business, wholesaler, business service or small manufacturer, Small Business Saturday is supporting you!”
Great news for small businesses online, offline and everywhere.
How to Get Involved in Small Business Saturday 2017
There are lots of ways to get involved in the Small Business Saturday 2017 campaign.
- Use the small business finder on the campaign website (link below) to find small businesses in your area.
- Download campaign logos to share on your social media accounts, encouraging your friends and family to ‘shop small’.
- If you’re a small business, download the marketing pack to see how you can get involved.
- Share all your plans and activities on social media using the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK
Help for Small Businesses
Alongside the Small Business Saturday 2017 day on 1st December the campaign also has many other activities and events to help small businesses.
The Inspire Series
The ‘Inspire Series’ is a programme of free talks and workshops covering a whole range of topics, whichinspire and support start-ups or existing small businesses.
Free workshops are held throughout the country and all the workshops are also live-streamed with a Q&A held on Twitter

The Bus Tour
In the run up to the UK’s Small Business Saturday 2017, the campaign also had a bus tour. Taking to the UK roads, the bus visited twenty seven places in the 5 weeks between Monday 23rd October and Friday 24th November.
The bus tour started in Dundee and provided numerous activities, workshops and small businesses exhibitions.
The tour’s final stop was in Brighton where it caught up with a good friend of Card & Gift Network, Jeremy Corner, Business expert and Director of card publisher, Blue Eyed Sun.

Taking the Pledge to Shop Small
Small Business Saturday 2017 is a much loved event that gets lots of support from small businesses across the UK.
It’s been great to see all the of the shop small pledges coming in. You can see them featured on the campaign website and hopefully they’ll encourage you to shop small this Christmas.

“Treasure Hunt around 20 local shops in Oakham, Rutland with prizes to be won! Entry forms in shops.” FSB Leicestershire, Northants & Rutland.
