Discover the Designer-Makers Heading to Pulse 2018
With just a few days to go before Pulse 2018 excitement is growing; soon the exhibitors with all their lovely new products will be swamped with visitors from across the world.
Before all the excitement and chaos begins, however, we’ve got a little longer to preview the new products. From the comfort of home or the office, we can beat the crowds and get a sneak peek before the show doors even open.
So far we’ve seen new homewares, new accessories and first-time exhibitors, but today we’re shining a spotlight on the makers. Ten talented individuals that design and make wonderful greetings cards, stationery and giftware products.
Let’s see what the makers have in store for this year’s Pulse…
The Must-See Makers to Visit this Weekend

The series of 16 sign language themed cards covers both the nice and the naughty sentiments. ‘Nice’ caters for general occasions and recipients such as ‘Home’, ‘Baby’, ‘Love’ and ‘Mum’, while ‘Naughty’ provides something for the adults, with insults such as ‘git’ and ‘twat’.

With influences spanning New Wave punk, graffiti and counterculture. The bags and accessories fuse an urban edginess with metallics, bold motifs, slogans and a heavy dose of glamour. Style, luxury and purpose are standard for the Dark Horse Ornament range and each handmade piece is designed to be practical and beautiful.
Giada Giachino – Stand A23
Giada Giachino is a jewellery designer from Turin, Italy. With a background in Fashion Design, Giada has always been interested in material innovation and the application of traditional techniques in modern jewellery production.
Her main collection is ‘Frantuma’, a range exploring traditional coral jewellery production. The name refers to the by-product of coral jewellery production: the raw material which is cleaned before being carved or shaped in pearls and cabochon. The collection imagines a future where frantuma is re-instated in the production and used in shaping jewellery pieces. The Frantuma collection is made of coral by-product, sterling silver and 18k gold plated sterling silver.
Glorious Mud – Stand C17
Glorious Mud is a quirky brand of contemporary ceramics, made in England by real people, not machines. Founded by potters, they design everything in-house and aim to make beautiful and useful ceramics that can’t be found anywhere else.

The plate fits perfectly over the bowl, making it ideal for storing leftover food; this ingenious design can even be frozen, with the lid sealing itself using moisture from the contents.
