In the first of a new series, I’m taking a look at notable new products from the greetings & giftware industries.
This week has seen a variety of new products make their way to the Card & Gift Network inbox. From new books on BIG science subjects to collector’s teddy bears invoking the history and traditions of Mexico.
This week I’m particularly pleased to share a first look at the new wooden toys from ethical toymakers Best Years. A new direction, which expands its range, which has previously focused on knitted and crocheted soft toys.
So without further ado let’s look at this week’s new and notable finds from the industry.

01 – Weekender Bags
LOQI have a new collection of bags created by Icelandic artist, Kristjana S Williams. Renowned for her fantastical illustrations fusing butterflies, birds and exotic plants into cityscapes. Kristjana‘s artworks have been commissioned by Paul Smith, Louboutin and Liberty‘s to name just a few. The new collection includes have a dozen bag designs, 4 weekenders and 2 zip pockets; retailing from $11-$50. Designs are quickly selling out so grab them while you can.
02 – Frida Teddy Bear
Paying homage to the bold spirit and iconic style of Frida Kahlo, Steiff’s new Frida Teddy Bear is a luxurious collector’s item for bear fans and art enthusiasts. Handcrafted in Germany from a textured jacquard fabric the bear is embroidered with floral and geometric motifs referencing Mexico’s textile heritage; as well as the traditional Tehuana costumes famously worn by Frida. A vibrant headband of painted felt flowers and leaves finishes the bear’s look. Limited to just 500 bears the Designer’s Choice Frida Teddy Bear retails at £199.00.
03 – London Bus Wooden Toy
Known for their collection of ethical, fair trade and organic soft toys Best Years are branching out. This October, the well-loved company will add to its range with a collection of wooden toys. The new range will feature high-quality wooden toys, decorated in bright and bold colour schemes. Robust enough for even the most active toddler play the collection is sure to delight little ones everywhere. A highlight of the new collection if the iconic London bus design, which comes with 23 hand-painted wooden passengers and driver. Retailing from £10.00 these new toys are a must-see for any shops specialising in toys, kids gifts and ethical finds.
04 – Minnie Mouse Eyeshadow Palette
Mad Beauty has added to their collection of Disney-inspired makeup with this super cute Minnie Mouse Eyeshadow Palette. Featuring 10 eyeshadow palettes in on-trend tones designed to enhance the wearer’s natural sparkle. Highlighting the humour to be found in the sporting world the range features bold typography, bright colours and illustrations. The ranges will also appeal to Eco-conscious shoppers thanks to their eco-friendly Kraft packaging. The range retails from £3.00 – £30.00, providing options for every budget.
07 – Superfood Teething Toys
Launching this month, ‘Superfood’ is the latest range of teething jewellery from Nibbling. Blending bright designs with ethical materials, Nibbling’s award-winning accessories are made from 100% food-grade silicone which is safe and soft enough for babies to chew. Each wooden teether features a textured silicone covering on the lower ring and a chewable Superfood silicone shape on the upper ring. 09 – Concept + Project Planners
