Workshop Opportunity with the Crafts Council

The Crafts Council is looking for craft makers to plan and deliver workshops for their flagship craft education programme, ‘Make Your Future’.

Make Your Future is a programme delivered by the Crafts Council, bringing together partners with craft expertise, secondary schools, and professional makers to reignite a passion for making in schools and tackle some of the challenges faced by craft education.

Small Business Saturday (UK) Bus Tour

The Small Business Saturday UK bus tour is taking to the road again in 2019 and is aiming to be bigger and better than ever.

Here in the UK, Small Business Saturday falls on 7th December this year so we can expect the bus tour to take part around that date.

Each year the bus tour visits a number of towns and cities across the UK, playing host to activities, workshops and exhibitions from small businesses.

Small Business Saturday is a big event for independents so could present a great opportunity for networking and promotion.

Awards

Artrooms Fair Awards

Due to popular demand, Artrooms Fairs has extended the deadline of the Artrooms Fairs Award Call for Artists.

Interested artists now have until the 14th of October at 2pm (UK time) to submit artworks.

The Awards are worth over £50,000 in prizes, residency, online services and exhibitions. Artists from all media are welcome to apply for a final show in November in London. Full information can be found on the Art Rooms website.

The Webby Awards Are Open for Entires

Established in 1996, The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a 2000+ member judging body comprised of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries, creative celebrities,  former Webby Winners, nominees and other Internet professionals.

Reflecting the tremendous growth of the Internet, The Webbys now honours excellence in 7 major media types: Websites, Video, Advertising, Media & PR, Social, Apps, Mobile, & Voice, Games, and Podcasts.

The Good Web Guide Website of the Year

The Good Web Guide is inviting everyone from established players to kitchen table startups, bloggers and influencers to enter the Website of the Year awards.

Now in its 10th year, the competition is a chance to raise your digital presence and get your website in front of journalists, influencers and potential investors.

Entry prices start at £75 + VAT and shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend the Awards’ reception in November free of charge.

Best Small Shops 2019 Open for Entries

The Online Business Awards celebrate the online presence of businesses. Highlighting those special businesses that serve their customers with a great website experience and excellent online activities. 

In association with Talk Business, the awards are an annual assessment of innovative thinking, excellence in execution and remarkable performance.

The winners will be chosen by an experienced panel of independent judges.

Open Call for 2nd Chaiya Art Awards (£10,000 Top Prize)

The biggest art awards in the UK exploring spirituality through art is now open for submissions; with winners in the running for an exhibition at London’s South Bank [email protected]

The Chaiya Art Awards is open to any artist and covers all mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles, mixed media, photography and video. Entrants are invited to be authentic and daring as they respond to the theme.

Gift of the Year Awards

The Giftware Association has launched the Gift of the Year 2020 competition.

Now in its 42nd year, the competition celebrates innovation in the home and gift industry.

With 20 categories, including Cards & Wrap, Stationery, Ethical Gift and Design & Craft, the awards are a great way to get your products and business noticed.

Entries start at £55 for members of the GA, JDA, BTAA, NAJ and DesignGAP.

Giftware Association Hosting Social Media Workshops

The Giftware Association has announced a new workshop for companies hoping to utilise Instagram to boost their business.

The 4-hour workshop is ‘Instagram Masterclass – Keep Your Creative In House’  and will be held on the 15th of October in Birmingham.

The UK Greeting Card Association has released this year’s toolkit for their annual Festive Friday celebrations.]

Festive Friday is a special day for everyone in the greetings industry to send their personal Christmas cards. Kickstarting a first wave of festive celebrations with amazing cards falling onto doorsteps across the land in the first week of December.

This year the Festive Friday event falls on the 29th November so be sure to download a copy of the free Toolkit so you can take part.

Artists Wanted for ‘We Are Commoners’ Exhibition

Craftspace is seeking submissions for ‘We Are Commoners’, a contemporary craft exhibition on the theme of ‘the commons’.

Following their first callout Craftspace have created a shortlist of artists and are currently oversubscribed for textiles, but continue to seek work in other applied arts disciplines.

The exhibition will highlight acts of ‘commoning’ that are shaping the way communities are working together to share and steward commonly owned assets and resources. It will also investigate craft as a form of commons (through knowledge, materials, practice, heritage).
