Betty & Dupree Launch Debut Collection of Contemporary Art Prints.

If you’re looking for a fresh new way to decorate your home, your bedroom or even your workplace look no further. Today we’re showcasing the new range of contemporary art prints by the fabulous Betty & Dupree.

Since 2011 Betty & Dupree Publishing have been working with leading contemporary illustrators, and emerging artistic talent to produce an impressive collection of greeting cards and stationery.

Over the years Betty & Dupree have found that their customers were using their greeting cards and even the company’s wrapping paper beyond its conventional use. Cards were being framed, gift wrap became wall decoration. The artistic flair of their growing collection was being used to brighten up in homes, bars and hotels.

For the Betty & Dupree team this was a sign, and it’s not surprising that the next logical step is for the company to offer its own range of contemporary art prints. Affordable, fine art Giclée prints that can fulfil the call for Betty & Dupree’s artworks.

The first collection of prints was officially launched on October 1st. Betty & Dupree collaborated with five different artists; choosing some based close to their HQ in Bristol and others from a little further afield.

The Artists

Holly Maguire’s illustrations are made using gouache, pen and ink, from her studio in central Bristol. Her work is delicately intricate, often utilising detailed surface patterns. Artworks are inspired by vintage signage and advertising, Eastern European design, Impressionist painters and Mexican textiles.

Manon Bijkerk is an illustrator from the Netherlands who creates happy, quirky illustrations and comics under the moniker La Nonette. She draws upon inspiration from nature, everyday life and her cat.

Lara Hawthorne is a Bristol based illustrator who graduated from Falmouth University. Her work has a distinct narrative element, depicting surreal scenarios and interesting characters. Lara’s contemporary art prints highlight the humour to be found in everyday life.  Designs are inspired by west African textile patterns, Folklore and the bright, bold colours of nature and the animal kingdom.

Mat Pringle was born in South London where he spent an idyllic childhood climbing trees and drawing dinosaurs. He studied graphic design before eventually stumbling his way into the world of illustration. Working mostly with dipping pen and ink, his designs are based around his original story, ‘The Spirit Bears of California’.

Llew Mejia is a Minneapolis-based illustrator, who by day works as a textile designer. In his younger years, his family traveled back and forth between Mexico and the Southwestern United States. As a result he is bilingual and has a unique perspective on American as well as Mexican culture. His inspiration comes from an extensive collection of reference books on flora and fauna, folklore and occult subjects.
