Meet New Designer Makers Bird in a Barn
Hello all, well I’d just got used to it being 2011 and now it’s suddenly March with the Spring season, sunny days and Mother’s Day fast approaching. For me today’s post is a nice one to start this brand new month, it combines a brand new crafter / maker with a very good friend and some beautiful heart gifts (a cute idea for Mother’s Day).
Bird in a Barn is a shiny new company which hand crafts beautiful gifts and homeware in rural Leicestershire. The designers and makers behind each heart are husband and wife team Helen and Andy Garford. Helen is a fab friend who worked with me in the Card and Gift Industry for many years and she officially launched these Hearts (and a few other goodies) for the first time at last month’s Spring Fair.
Each heart is moulded, cast, and then polished by hand to create a high quality finish. The collection has a variety of decorative designs including the hearts and flowers you can see in today’s pictures. The finishes available include brass, bronze, pewter and copper; many hours of polishing go into bringing out the metallic colours and giving these Hearts their lovely shiny surface.
Each heart has a flat surface allowing them to stand freely on a shelf or table. With real weight to each piece they make a brilliant paperweight, bookend or decorative gift for a loved one. With Mother’s Day coming up they would make a fabulous gift for Mum’s. Each heart comes individually cello-wrapped and tied with ribbon ready for gift giving.
Hearts are available in small and large sizes, priced £7.50 and £9.50 respectively. To see the full collection or purchase a heart pop along to the Bird in a Barn online shop.
