Take a Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes of Sarah Lovell Art
Say hello to …
Sarah Thompson from Sarah Lovell Art
Tell us a little about yourself and your company?
I have always loved art. I studied it, and have always made my own art work; doing local exhibitions and pictures for friends and family. Over the last 3 or 4 months, it has got a bit bigger than that. I have started designing my own range of greetings cards and prints, as well as getting going on my sewing machine and making some cushions and other home furnishings too. After getting some small orders from some local shops, I have decided to really go for it. So you can find an ever evolving collection of quirky art work at my website and in some card and gift shops in Dorset (where we live). On the flip side, I am a mummy to my 2 beautiful children, and wife to my lovely husband. We live in Dorset, and love doing lots of fun things together.
Describe your typical working day …
First things first and that’s getting my 2 children up, or rather them getting us up, getting them dressed, and giving them breakfast. We normally have various places to be, clubs or classes to go to, so I try and fit in a bit of tweeting in between playing trains, vets or other games my daughter thinks up! After they have gone to bed is when I get on with my artwork and the business side of things. Catching up with Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest, and mostly drawing, sewing or painting.
What is the best thing about your job?
It has to be that it never feels like a chore or job to make art. I love it, loose myself in it and hope that it inspires my children that you can do what you love, and love what you do.
Do you use any specialist techniques or equipment?
No, just good old pens, paint, paper, thread, ribbons and fabric.
Your products …
What is your personal favourite product in your collection?
‘Campfire’ an A6-sized greeting card.
What are the most popular products in your range?

What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on some mini bunting, which I started today with my daughter sitting up on the table behind my machine and my son on my lap … I didn’t get too much done!
What do you have planned for 2013?
Really getting out there with my products. I had a PR meeting today (first one ever) and am feeling very inspired and fired up to start sending out emails, samples, going to markets and so on … so keep an eye out for Sarah Lovell Art this year!
