Swedish Ceramics Brand STHÅL AB to Make their UK Trade Show Debut
Swedish ceramics designers Sthål will be showing their collection to the gift industry at this year’s Top Drawer Autumn; their first appearance at a UK trade show. Ahead of the event we’re taking a sneak peek at the collection.
The name Sthål originates from the initials of founders Susanna Theander and Helena Åkesson-Liedberg. As designers and stylists, with a passion for food and good company, the pair were always searching for quality ceramics; dishes and bowls with intriguing colours, shapes and patterns that stood out from the ordinary; tableware that would do the food visual justice, and give any party the right atmosphere.
Working with ceramics was a hobby for both designers and soon they were creating exactly what they were seeking. The result is bohemian everyday ceramics that brighten up any day of the week. Untraditional tableware, where every piece works just as well as a solitary accent on the table.
Swedish Ceramics with the Fun Factor
The philosophy behind Sthål’s unique Swedish ceramics is simple, “throwing a party should be easy and fun”. Whether you choose relaxed mingling in a garden or a formal sit down around a beautifully laid table, fun is key. From a quick gathering with friends and family to a planned event Sthål aims to ensure their collection brings a touch of joy; not just for the guests but for the hosts too.
With this idea in mind, Sthål have produced a collection of tableware ceramics that immediately creates a warm ambiance. The first Sthål collection is ‘Arabesque’ and cleverly combines both Swedish and exotic influences. Finding inspiration in oriental pattern and ornament the range includes bowls, plates and platters. Unique pieces captured in a selection of Scandi-influenced hues. With several different glazes, the range has been designed to mix and match with old and new favourites.
Each piece in the collection utilises white stoneware clay. Fired to a very high temperature, the stoneware is durable and dishwasher proof; making it practical as well as stylish.
