Get Ready for World Calligraphy Day 2018
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, World Calligraphy Day is back for the 2nd year.
Hosted by the Pen Museum and Manuscript Pen Company, World Calligraphy Day 2018 celebrates the art of calligraphy and hand lettering with a day of events in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
This year, the event takes place on Wednesday 15th August 2018.
Let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from the big day…
World Calligraphy Day 2018 Events
World Calligraphy Day brings together a host of celebrated artists to share their love of calligraphy and hand-lettering. From the historic surroundings of the Pen Museum, the day will be filled with workshops and drop-in sessions that will allow visitors to meet and learn from a talented group of calligraphy artists.
Discover the History
World Calligraphy Day 2018 gives us all a great excuse to explore the Pen Museum. Visitors will learn about the many pen companies of Birmingham and the history of the trade starting from quills and dip pens to the modern day fountain pen. The museum even lets you step back in time and try your hand at creating your very own steel pen nib using traditional machinery.

These can be sent to Say Something Special c/o Small Man Media, 2nd Floor, 6 Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4BL.
Each individual letter will then be forwarded on to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital alongside some Manuscript product for the hospital to use for their art classes and play sessions.
